“Art brings me back to myself.”

I’m Suzanne Elstyn, and art has become a way for me to rediscover, express, and celebrate who I am. After going through a time in life when I felt completely lost, it was creativity—through colour, form, and movement—that helped me find my way back.

What began as simple play turned into something powerful and showed me that I have a deep connection to the creative process. Art allows me to express what I can’t always put into words—it’s emotional, intuitive, and grounding.

I used to believe I wasn't good enough, but when I gave myself permission to just make—without judgment or comparison—I discovered the joy of creating art I love. That joy alone was enough to keep going.

Having worked in education, helping students build confidence in their voice, now I do the same through art—helping others explore creativity as a way to connect with themselves. It’s not about being perfect; it’s about showing up, and exploring, experimenting and play.

Art has given me confidence, adventure, and community. It reflects my moods, my boldness, my subtleties. It helps me grow and continues to surprise me.

Through my artwork and classes, I share this process with others—because I believe we all have something inside us worth expressing.
